Show GOVERNOR SPRY HAS SUGGESTION Denver, April 9. The session of the irrigation conference closed tonight to-night beforo Governor Spry of Utah could present his plan for solving tho difficulties confronting the irrigation irri-gation projocts in the west. It will go beforo the conference tomorrow morning. The plnn contemplates land grants from the government to western west-ern states needing funds to build new or complete irrigation projects under way and beld up for lack of funds. It Is understood that several western governors will support the plan of Mr. Spry, which seoms to bG the only practical suggestion made so far to provide government funds for reclamation and yet leave tho spending spend-ing of the money in the hands of the state to be benefited and eliminate elimin-ate delays of government supervision Governor Spry says that if Utah could secure a grant of 3,000,000 acres and sell It for the lowest average aver-age price school lands in Utah sold for, a fund or from 7.000,000 to $9,-000,000 $9,-000,000 could be secured for reclamation recla-mation work. This fund would be used as a revolving reclamation fund and spent at the discretion of the state. |
