Show ARMORY PLANS GIMPPORT Chamber of Commerce Passes Resolution Favoring Immediate Im-mediate Purchase of Site A resolution favoring tho securing of the necessary funds for the purchase pur-chase of a site for the new armory building for this city, and favoring the - building of the armory, was adopted by members of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce at a special meeting held in the Weber club laBt night The motion mo-tion was made by W. J. Parker, and seconded by J. S. Lewis, j A further motion was made by I Frank Stevens and seconded by Frank R. Drlggs, that tho city and county be invited to make appropriation to the ! fund for tho purchase of the armory site. Committees will bo selected and a canvass for the funds will bo started next week. It is expected that the entire amount of $15,000 will be collected col-lected in two days. P. T. Wright, who was chairman of the meeting told how several sites had been inspected by Governor Bamberger Bam-berger and his staff and that the site on Twenty-third street, ea3t of Washington Wash-ington avenue, was selected. If tho citizens of Ogden will contribute the price of the site, the state has promised prom-ised to erect an armory at a cost of S85.000. The building will have a frontage of 165 feet and will be half a block in depth There will be a large auditorium that will be useful for conventions. con-ventions. A swimming pool, gymnas- mm and club rooms will be included . in the building. At tho close of the meeting, which I was attended by over thirty members i of the organization, light refreshments were served in the banquet hall. oo |
