All your traveling expenses will be paid, ajid you will be housed in a men's dormitory while working for the game. Only seniors who have completed their high school eligibility are eligible for the game. Appearing in this game will not affect your standing in college athletics ath-letics as the game is played within with-in all limits and regulations of the NCAA." If John is selected and makes the trip, he will be the only Utahn represented in the game as no other athlete was given this invitation invi-tation here, it was reported. He will be under the scrutiny of college col-lege and university coaches from all over the nation. Charles 'Chuck' Taylor will also be at the game to officially designate his 1952 all-American all-American high school team to be honored in the Converse yearbook. Selection of the 20 out of 44 candidates can-didates nominated for the outstanding out-standing honor of playing in the North-South game will be made within the next few weeks and those who make the grade will be given official notification. John, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Gustin, is one of the best high school casaba artists ever produced here and his love for the game has brought him finesse in the art of ball handling and shooting. His dazzling performances per-formances in the recent state class B basketball tournament, in which he was named the most outstanding outstand-ing player and highest scorer, won the plaudits of the spectators. He performed equally well under the basket or out. His uncanny hook shots and accurate long shots, wero effective both in tourney play and season play. His unequaled ability in deceptive passing and teamwork should go a long way in winning him all-American honor if he is selected to play in the North-South game. |
