Show River Level Falls Three Inches But Land West of Ogden Inundated Although tho waters of tho Ogden river fell three Inches last night and early this morning, and now stand at at height only slightly over five foot, it is osllmatcd that fully 1,400 acres of land aro under water In Slaterville, Warren, West Weber and Harriott. The river banks hold well in sections through tho city, but In tho lower sections sec-tions tho water spread into hugo lakes, The Slatotwlllc district 13 in moro aorloiiG condition than others, according accord-ing to reports received this morning, and the estimate of acreago which is under cultivation and now Inundatod is as follows: Cowan farm, 176 acres; Chadwick farm, 75 acres; Slater farm, 4 0 acres; Webb farm, 20 acres; Richardson Rich-ardson farm, 30 acres; Foy-Wnymcnt farm, 125 acres. Dykes built by farmers of the Slaterville district during the past few days aro reported to havo saved many other valuablo farm acreages from being be-ing flooded. C. H. Martin, city street supervisor, is spending practically all of his timo in tho river district with a crew of men, closely watching various points and enlarging dykes. In the district below tho point whero tho Wober and Ogden rivers join, tho water is reported re-ported to havo spread out to nearly four miles in width. In tho Hooper district on the south side of the Wc-ber-Ogden river, it is said the flood waters cover an area of about three miles from the river. Chris Flygarc, commissioner of streets and parks, said this morning that the receding of the flow last night and this morning has greatly relieved re-lieved tho flood situation for the present. |
