Show Student Bibles Presented to Retiring Members of the o Bishopsic The presentation of the latest edition edi-tion of tho students Bible to tho mem-jbers mem-jbers of tho retiring bishopric of Plain City was a feature of the annual "Home Coming" celebration held yesterday yes-terday when over four hundred present pres-ent and former residents of the town were present. Thoso to whom the bibles were presented pre-sented were Bishop Gilbert Thatcher and his counsellors,, J. L. Robinson land Wm. England, Jr. The presenta-'tlon presenta-'tlon was made on behalf of the members mem-bers of the ward by Bishop Wllmer iJ.'Maw. Following tho presentation 'suitable responses were made by the retiring bishopric. The program commenced In the morning at 11 o'clock with iGeorgo A. Palmer as master of ceremonies. cere-monies. The program Included singing sing-ing by congregation, "Utah, the star of the West;" invocation by Henry J. Garner, address of welcome. Bishop Maw; piano solo, Lydia Garner; readings. read-ings. Miss Agnes Warner of Ogden "An Ode to the Retiring Bishopric," composed and read by Mrs- Louis R. Jenkins; quartette by the Rob. Robin son company, anthem by the ward choir and benediction by Lyles Lar-kln. Lar-kln. At noon 450 present and former, residents of the town partook of a banquet in tho ward hall. Tho afternoon after-noon was devoted to sports when tho Hooper besaball team gained a victory vic-tory over the Plain City team by a score of 11 to 7. A grand ball concluded con-cluded tho celebration at night. This afternoon over 300 children are being entertained at a banquet in the ward hall. |
