Show Business Moves With Clock-Like Clock-Like Precision Marshal Gives Keynote Address. PLATFORM ADOPTED; STATE TICKET NAMED Woman Named on State Ballot; Bal-lot; Name of Woodrow Wilson Cheered. INDIANAPOLIS. May 20. Although several political precedents were broken, brok-en, the business of the Democratic state convention riioved with clock liko precision today. Keynote addresses of VIco President Thomas R. Marshall and Claude C. Bowers of Fort Wayne, had been heard, delegates at large to the national convention had been named, a platform adopted and a complete com-plete state ticket nominated when adjournment ad-journment sine die was taken at 2:20 o'clock. For the first time In the history of Indiana, a woman, Miss A. Steele Baylor, Bay-lor, of Indianapolis, nominated for state superintendent of public Instruction, Instruc-tion, was given a place on the stato ticket. Women took an important part. MrB. Alice Foster McCulloch, of Fort Wayne, was named a member of Indiana's "big four" to San Francisco, Fran-cisco, and three other women wero named alternate delegates at large. The name of Woodrow Wilson was cheered every time it was mentioned and his administration was strongly endorsed. An attempt to stampede the convention conven-tion for an indorsement of Vice President Presi-dent Marshall for the presidential nomination nom-ination at San Francisco was checked by Mr. Marshall himself . "I tell you again, I do not seek tho nomination for provident," he said. . The delegates at large to the national nation-al convention elected today are: Mr. Marshall, former United States Senator Thomas Taggart, former Governor Gov-ernor S. M. Ralston and Mrs. McCulloch. McCul-loch. Other nominations included: For United Stales senator, Thomas Taggart, French Lick. For governor, Dr. Carleton B. McCulloch, McCul-loch, Indianapolis. Edward G. Hoffman of Fort Wayne was re-elected Democratic national i committeeman from Indiana by the delegatos from this state to the Democratic Demo-cratic national convention, who met following adjournment of the state convention. BALTIMORE, May 20. By a vote of 105 to 19, the Maryland Democratic state convention today approved a resolution res-olution committing "tho party to a modification mod-ification of the Volstead act to permit the making and use of home-made wines and cider and the manufacture and sale in the original package for home consumption. An unlnstructed delegation will be sent to the national convention as no Democratic presidential presiden-tial candidates wero entered in tho recent re-cent preferential primaries.
