Judge A. W. Ageo granted her a decree and awarded her $16 a month for tho support of herself and child. "MrB. Smith declared that aho was provided with a shack and meagre credit at the storo by her husband, but that he further refused to aid hor. With her child, LeRoy, 2 years of ago, sho said sho remained In tho shack during the freezing winter days, entirely without fuol and with inadequate clothing. Her husband, hus-band, she alleged, was employed at a mill but eight miles from tho shack and earning $200 a month. In presenting her case, Mrs. Smith did not ask for alimony and whon questioned by tho court sho stated that she thought it would bo useless to ask it, as her husband would not pay. In granting tho decree Judge Agec warned tho counsel who appeared for Mr. Smith that tho $16 must be paid each month in tho future and ho Intimated that If tho amount was not forthcoming forthcom-ing promptly drastic action would follow. Tho couple were married In Moab, September 20, 1917. Mrs. Smith and her child have been living with relatives In Ogden during the past two months. |
