Show uu COLORADO TOWN IS CUT OFF BY SNOW Grand Junction, Colo., Jan. 4. Gateway, Gate-way, an inland mining town with a population of 160, fifty-five miles southwest of here, tonight was snowbound, snow-bound, practically cut off from all outside communication and almost without food and coal supplies. Snow , is piled from two to eight feet deep. Attempts of stockmen to break a trail to care for livestock have failed. A stiff wind has 'been blowing for three ', days. More tnow was predicted for tonight. Denver, Jan. 4. A severe wind-' wind-' storm struck Monument, Colo., sixty miles south of here, today, paralyzing wire communication, blowing down hundreds of telephone and telegraph poles. A box car was literally picked up and hurled from the track. No one was injured. |
