Show FIRE CHIEF REMOVED FROM POSITION BY CITY BOARD At an adjourned meeting ot the city board of commissioners this afternoon, af-ternoon, Mayor A. R. Heywood recommended re-commended that "for the good of the service of the city" a. B. Canficld be removed from the position ot Chief of the Fire Department, and that Geo. A. Graves be appointed to fill the vacancy. vac-ancy. The recommendation was approved ap-proved and the appointment of Mr. Graves made. On the recommendation of the may-or, may-or, Samuel Powell was appointed assistant as-sistant city attorney. Before the close of the meeting, the Mayor took occasion to speak briefly for the entire board in appreciation of the efficiency and untiring work of the outgoing city recorder, Mrs. Flor ence O'Neill Stanford. The mayor said that Mrs. Stanford had willingly aided the new admlnlstralion In adjusting ad-justing the affairs of her office and that the hoard extended her its gratitude, grati-tude, wishing her well In the future. |
