Show Emery Stake Academy Opens To Another Successful Year The Emery Stake Academy opened its 18th academic year last Monday with all the prospects of the most successful suc-cessful year in the history of the academy. aca-demy. Monday as usual, was spent in the registration oT students and the showing was a most excellent one, for at the closing of the days work it was found that four counties in the state were represented. Monday evening the grand opening ball was given, at which party every town almost in the stake was represented, and it proved a most excellent event. The school this year is larger and much better equipped for its students than at anv previous time. It is a pleasure to note that this year sees the introduction to our local church institution the woodwork department de-partment as was previously anticipated. Tnis work is to ba under the supervision super-vision of Elder J. G. McQuarrie, who is thoroughly equipped .for the : work, ard a man stalwart in his character char-acter and one who will conscientionsly take care of this branch of the school. The parents of the stake who have been so desirous that their boys be - given the privilege of learning a trade can now send their boys where they can be well tutored in this line of work and many boys are already taking advantage ad-vantage of the chance. We are pr ud to say that we have a school located at our very doors that will eventually put our bnys and girls in a position to pull down the high salaries, and there is not a boy or girl that has taken the . advantage of the excellent opportunity afforded by this school in the past but what have gone home to their respective respect-ive towns and have been factors of great good. Educated men and women are what the world is looking for. There is no better school in the land than we have right here at home. And if we continue to he loyal to it and support it we shall see grow up in our communities men and women of charac ter and worth. Through past experience exper-ience we know that it has been somewhat some-what of a hardship and a source of much toiling and sacrifice to the people of the stake to erect and maintain the light that is set upon the hill, and . indeed in-deed they are to be highly congratulated congratu-lated upon their faithfulness in this regard and in years to come, their sons and daughter will rise up and call them blessed for the energies they have put forth for their education. The faculty this year consists of instructors in-structors that are brim full of 'the desire de-sire to do good and they shall be satisfied satis-fied only when they see every boy and girl in the stake attend this school, and through persistency they shall endeavor to visit again the several wards and round up all that are not now enrolled. So much could be said of good regarding regard-ing our home school, but for a lack of space we mint refrain. But in closirg we would urge the parents to consider deeply the necessities of their children in education, and make all the sacrifice possible for them and in turn we would l say to the students or those that may become students to cons ider well that I sacrifice and .lake good their time and use it to good advantage, and as our beloved president Elder Oveson told us last Sunday night that he hoped the students would come with a determination determina-tion to waste no time but to devote every ev-ery moment in the storing up of knowledge know-ledge so that they could go home at the close of the .school and make their homes, their communities and the world brighter and better. |
