| Show IX A FAITh I CURE TEXT A Needle in Process of Extraction From a Mans Foot Through Faith At the end of a shady road that leads through the New York Bay Cemetery in Jersey City and almost on the shore of the bay stands a big square tent The I outside is scrupulously covered with mosquito netting and the interior is 1 decorated with printed Bible sayings In i this tent a series of religious meetings have been kept up since Wednesday with great enthusiasm I is the fourth I annual conference of the Mount Zion j Sanctuary The Sanctuary proper is a twostory house with a mansard roof I which stands near the tent In the summer sum-mer of 1SSO Sister Antoinette Jackson 1 while at Long Branch received a revelation i revela-tion that this house with the two acres wt of land surrounding it should be purchased pur-chased and be called the Mount Zion Sanctuary A religious corporation was I organized two years later under the laws I i of the State and the Sanctuary has been carried on ever since Belief in the possibility pos-sibility of healing by faith is a tenet of i the sect sct j f The big tent was crowded irom early I in the morning until late at night yesterday yester-day The back seats were kept full by I people who dropped in to see and I soon dropped out while the front seats were packed with converts who had a minute each to tell their experiences Sometimes two or three would be standing stand-ing at a time waiting for a chance A i j young man from Brooklyn said he had been called crazy by his friends but crazy or not he gloried in his belief He was once troubled he said with epileptic i fits When he got the least bit excited I he used to go into a fit He went to a i i distinguished doctor and took lots of medicine but the more he took the worse he got Finally he looked to Jesus and f f he had had no fits since > A little while ago he continued i got a needle in my foot For the time r being I backslid I forgot my faith and i went to a doctor to get the needle cut out He said he couldnt cut it out without injuring in-juring the foot and that Id better wait and let it work out at some other part of the body Then I took my caseto Jesus The needle is there yet but it is comtnu out just where it went in and that is a thing unknown to science A large woman in relating her experience experi-ence said Once I was troubled with to much voluptuousness I was so fat that I could not walk two blocks I took antifat and I grew fatter I came to the Mount Zion Sanctuarva few months ago and there I prayed to he less voluptuous When I began to pray I weighed 375 pounds Jesus has taken away 75 Xow I I weigh only 3 Other experiences followed The meetings will continue until tomorrow meetng After the telling of experiences and preaching the leaders annoint sick people peo-ple who are brought inN r Sun |
