The purpose of the awards prog- The Salt Lake District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration Adminis-tration joins with the National Women's Economic Alliance in sponsoring an essay contest "Women and Free Enterprise: A Partnership of Progress" to affirm women's contribution to and success within the free enterprise enter-prise system. Women directors from corporate boards of the Fortune For-tune 1000 will select five winners and present them with an award and check for $1 ,000 at a gala program prog-ram to be held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. in December. De-cember. "Women own 25 percent of the nation's small businesses, and that number is expected to double within with-in the next 15 years," says R. Kent Moon, District Director of SBA's Salt Lake District office. "SBA's special emphasis program prog-ram for women business owners makes assistance available in management man-agement counseling, training, procurement, pro-curement, financing and many other areas with programs designed de-signed to assist women in their business endeavors. We encourage encour-age all women to consider participating partici-pating in this project." Entrants must attest that their submitted essay represents their own thoughts and is not based on any other uncredited work. .
