Show Former officer pleads innocence FARMINGTON A former Centerville police officer has pleaded not guilty to two charges that occurred in 1984 and 1985, while he was on the city's police force. Ronald A. Peterson, who now lives in Salt Lake City, entered the pleas in 2nd District Court Tuesday. He will go on trial on November 16 on two charges: a second-degree felony theft and a third-degree felony. Prior to that date, a pre-trial hearing will be held on Oct. 20. Peterson's attorney, Steven Vanderlinden, feels both charges could be resolved at that time without a trial. Peterson and three others, including two who were police officers at the time in other jurisdictions, are charged in a series of thefts and burglaries of storage sheds in Davis County. The other three are awaiting preliminary hearings, but Peterson waived his right to that -hearing, choosing to go directly to district court. y - The former officer resigned in January from the Centerville force, where he had worked for seven years. |
