Show 41 4 1 t i 1541 1 AU 1 ort or f OLIN S FIRE protection it was rather a sad sight in some ways t to see the pi pit to ticul stream of water coming out ob the fire hose the other night and think what would have happened to a house had it been on oil fire there is absolutely no need of any town beiji being without some fire protection we know equipment costs money but so do fires and they generally mean the largest largist loss to the people who can afford it the least an investment of a few hu hundred adred dollars would provide several chemical chei tanks in different parts of the town and they would offer far better protection than we have now this should be the least that the town board provides iro yides and if they did their full duty they would provide a ford fire truck which would give the best protection possible with the water pressure we have now we are informed that there are only four fire plugs in town this seems almost like a crime to the people there is only hose enough to reach one block so PO all those a block or more from one of the four fire plugs are just out of luck if a bucket brigade cannot put it out they can only say good by to their home or buildings and generally all that is in them taxes are high but we do not believe people object to paying for fire protection the time to purchase equipment is now not after we have had a big fire loss the town board and the mayor should give this their attention at their next meeting the american legion has shown commendable spirit in offering to form a volunteer fire company and they should have the backing of the town officials in seeing that they have adequate equipment I 1 J |
