Stake Sr. Scout PEay The Sugar House Stake Senior Sen-ior Scout basketball tournament tourna-ment emerged from its third week of play with two teams Bryan and Richards still in the undefeated class. But one of them will have to drop out of the unconquered class next Monday when the two teams meet in the Roosevelt Gym at 8:30 p.m. It should be a thriller and is the one both teams have had their sights set on since the beginning be-ginning of the second half. Bryan Victor Bryan took Richards 33-7 m their first encounter as Richards had an, "off night." Snce then, however, Bryan has lost three first string players, one to each of the city's high schools. In the opening game lat Monday evening Bryan came back from the short end of a 6-0 first quarter score to beat Sugar Su-gar House 28-15. After a slow start the score was tied 8-all at the end of the half and was still anybody's game as Bryan led 10-9 after an almost scoreless third period. In the final quarter, however, Bryan Bry-an began to find the basket and surged ahead as Orion Watson found the basket for three field goals and Leland Buckway and Ray Buhler each got two baskets. bas-kets. Orion Watson was high scorer with 10 points. Sea Scouts Lose In the second game Marlborough Marlbor-ough beat the Sea Scouts 21-12. 21-12. The Sea Scouts made a good try to win their first game, leading lead-ing at the fisrt quarter and trailing by two points at the half. They tied in the final quarters, however and allowed allow-ed Marlborough to win going away. Richards had little trouble in defeating Hawthorne 33-20. They grabbed a 12-2 lead and almost ' coasted through the rest of the game with the closest clos-est score being 17-10 at the half. Richards' fast-breaking offensive offen-sive and close defense proved just too much for Hawthorne. High scorers were Richards' Rasmussen with 12 and Johnson with 9. High for the losers was Hawthorne's Kammerath with 7 points, five of which were free throws. |
