Show Latin Club Play, Red Cross Cooking Classes and Basketball Game Take Spotlight on Events at Irvinq The Latin Club meeting was held yesterday after school in the auditorium. It was an exceptionally ex-ceptionally fine program planned plan-ned by first year Latin students. RICHARD TAYLOR introduced DARRELL VAN DORN who gave an accordian solo. This was followed by two piano solos played by MIKE MERRILL and NANCY LEE COOPER, ERNA LANCASTER then presented a Hawaiian dance. Two readings given bv JANET PETERSEN and ARLENE DEON OLSEN " concluded the first . part of the program. A play entitled "Latin Can Be Fun" was then presented tiy the first year students. The author, au-thor, one of the eighth grade Latin students, ARLENE OL- SON, had certainly done a fine job according to the applause that the playlet received. Dressed Dress-ed up in Roman togas were VIRGINIA WINEGAR as Ter-entia, Ter-entia, JOAN BROADHURST as Cornelia, JOHN CEDARLOF as Flaccus and JEAN LARSEN as Secunda. Also in the play were DAROLD MARLOWE as a boy by the name of Johnny and his parents. MRS. MALCOLM E. PIKE, the president of Irving's PTA announced that this class would be held each Thursday evening at 7 for the convenience of the parents who cannot attend at-tend the Monday classes. Patrons Pa-trons who are unable to enroll en-roll on Monday evening can therefore now register for the Thursday evening class. Last Friday a very exciting but also very disappointing (in the eyes of Irving's students) basketball game was held in Irving Ir-ving Boys' Gym. Irving's newly new-ly organized basketball team lost to Edgehill Ward B team 5 to 9. BOYD WILSIE was Irving's Ir-ving's star at the game exhibiting exhibit-ing some really fine form and technique with the ball. GEORGE SOUVALT and JERRY HICKMAN HICK-MAN also did some fine playing. play-ing. BILL COX came in at the half and after a nice tip-in executed ex-ecuted by him he continued on until the end of the game. Another An-other one of the hotshots was ROBERT McCALL who also I played during most of the game. I mother, played Dy uuinini NATTRESS.
