Show Career guidance available KAYSVILLE If you're hunting hunt-ing for a job the best place to search out leads may be Clearfield Joh Service. But if you're still in an exploration explora-tion stage, wondering just where your "niche" might be, maybe the Davis Region Assessment Center would be the best launching pad. The Davis Area Vocational Center Cen-ter operates the Assessment Centers Cen-ters with three locations now available avail-able to serve residents' needs on Wednesday evenings. Clearfield and Viewmont High School career guidance centers will be open from 5-8 p.m. while the DAVC will be open that night from 4:30-8:30 p.m. The public is invited to visit any of the centers and obtain career-related career-related information and related assistance, emphasizes Kathy Walker, DAVC Assessment Center Cen-ter Director. The high school centers will welcome wel-come "walk-in" traffic from secondary students on up to their parents and any adult wanting to get a "preliminary" assessment. That assessment includes access to the guidance information system. sys-tem. In plain English, that includes a computerized data base of salaries salar-ies and job openings in various occupations. Stressing cooperation with Job Service and other agencies, Ms. Walker says "Job Service doesn't do the initial assessments or counseling" coun-seling" because of staffing and other responsibilities. "We are the best option. We can access all available labor market information and provide counseling. counsel-ing. We help a person at the beginning, begin-ning, Job Service is there more at the end." Vocational Coordinator Dick Francis will spearhead the Clearfield Clear-field High School offering while his counterpart, Fred Davies, will handle those duties at Viewmont. All services at those schools will be free. A modest charge is asked for the DAVC's more comprehensive, in-depth in-depth service, Ms. Walker notes. Appointments are necessary there because of time needed to complete com-plete various tests. Call 546-244 1 to make those arrangements. "We can help in creation of career plans as well as in helping people determine their strong points in vocational areas," she continues. Further information is available by calling 546-4134. |
