While we are in favor of all innocent sports and amusement, yet we have no use for the hoodlum element that throws rocks at doors, carries gates off into pastures and makes nights hideous with their yells. If music will not soothe the savage then let the strong arm of the law try its efficacy. One of our townsmen brought a ten year old girl up from Salt Lake from the orphan's home last Saturday Satur-day to keep house for him and his old lady, but some of the women folks in his neighborhood went and took her away from him and had her recalled. . A number of people received beautiful Valentines last Monday, but Roy Cahoon claims to have received re-ceived the most valuable one. It was a bouncing baby boy. 74 Years Ago in Davis County Feb. 19, 1914 The first exhibit of poultry and pet stock ever in Davis County was held last week in Bountiful by the Davis County Poultry Association. There were more than 100 entries in the show. The high quality of birds exhibited exhi-bited was a surprise to all even to the canciers themselves and betrayed bet-rayed the fact that Davis County has some of the best fowls to be found in the west. LAYTON The ball given in the Farmers Union hall last Saturday Satur-day evening by the Blue Bird Club, an organization of young ladies, was a huge success. About ISO people enjoyed the dancing. The hall was tastefully decorated to commemorate St. Valentines Day. Hearts and red crepe paper were festooned from the walls and ceiling ceil-ing making a very pretty effect. The young ladies served punch in a bowl decorated with hearts and streamers. Members of the Davis County Concert orchestra furnished fur-nished the music. The many beautiful gowns worn by the ladies present was an especially noticeable notice-able feature. |
