Show Easter Services A special Easter program was presented in the senior Sunday School on Sunday. Songs were sung by several of the class groups; Bishop Golden Collins gave a scriptural quotation, and Mrs. Charles Bingham and Ole Rasmussen gave special Easter talks. The congregation sang, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," as a special number. The junior Sunday School held their regular class work. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Winn accompanied ac-companied Mrs. Earl Gardner to Provo' early Monday morning morn-ing to take Gary back to school. They then went to Salt Lake City to get Mrs. Effie Winn, who has been visiting with relatives rela-tives since conference. Mrs. Venita Heed received word that her father, Amos Roach, is very ill in California. Mr. Roach lived with his daughter daugh-ter here for several years, and will be remembered by many in Ballard. Mrs. Wendel Johnson has been named chairman of the Cancer Fund Drive in the Ballard Bal-lard vicinity. Let's all support her. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rasmussen are the proud parents of a baby boy, born at the Roosevelt Hospital Hos-pital last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Butcher, Mr. and Mrs. James Butcher and Mr. and Mrs. Ole Rasmussen Rasmus-sen attended the funeral service of Lee Woodward at Vernal last I lvionaay. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham Bing-ham accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bingham and family, of Herriman, to Arcadia on Sunday. Sun-day. April 11. Later they were all dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Halver-son Halver-son in Neola. School was dismissed at noon on Thursday and the teachers went around taking census again this school year. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Gneitting and small son, of Lewiston, Idaho, and Miss Diane Hullin-ger, Hullin-ger, who is attending- school at the USAC in Logan, were guests at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hullinger, over Easter. Mrs. George Taylor, Mrs. Elon Taylor and Mrs. Mary Or-ser Or-ser visited with Mrs. George Bracken at her home in Alterra Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Wm. Haws and daughter, daugh-ter, who have been visiting rel- j atives here, ' have returned to their home at Eureka, Calif. The play given by the Genealogy Gen-ealogy group at various wards in the stake, was presented at the Lapoint ward last Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rex and family, from the Moon Lake stake, have moved into an i apartment at the church farm. Mr. Rex will assist Gordon Evans on the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hatch attended at-tended the wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. Auer Warren at Jensen, Saturday evening, April 10. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson, of Vernal, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs John H. Cook last Thursday. Mr. Anderson An-derson is a brother of Mrs. Cook. Mrs. Karl Shisler and small daughter spent a few days at Easter time at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mont Poulson, at Duchesne. t ji rri T spent the weekend at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. David Lund-berg, Lund-berg, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Lundberg. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Seeley, of Salt Lake City, spent the past weekend at the Farrell Rasmussen Ras-mussen home. They were looking look-ing after their farm while here. So far it remains vacant. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Holt, from Dragerton, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Mitchell from Midvale, Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Galloway and Lowell Low-ell Mitchell, of Ogden;' Mrs. Wanda Allred and Mr. and Mrs Hugo Mitchell, of Upalco; and Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Mitchell Mitch-ell of Altonah, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Evans last Saturday evening. INJURES LEG Allen Gines had the misfortune misfor-tune to injure one of his legs while participating at Field Day events at Vernal last Saturday Sat-urday afternoon. Allen, a student stu-dent at Union High, was taken to the Vernal hospital and later brought to his home. EASTER TRIPS j The 4th and 5th grades at Alterra, under the supervision of their teachers, Mrs. Faulkner Faulk-ner and Mrs. Lippardt, enjoyed an Easter trip on Friday. Principal Prin-cipal Spencer Squire accompanied accompan-ied them. The 6th grade, with their teacher, Junior Hicks, enjoyed en-joyed an Easter hike down to the Uintah River. The students of the Maeser school, under the supervision of the principal, Orvil Hullinger Hullin-ger presented an operetta at the Alterra school on Wednesday. Wednes-day. It was a very good performance. per-formance. Mrs Leo Walker spent all last week in Salt Lake City with her husband, who had a second operation. Mrs. Winfred Long, of Bennett, took her place in the school kitchen. Mrs. Fontella Taylor and ! Mrs. Norma Burton, cooks in the Lapoint school, assisted in the Alterra school kitchen last Friday. |
