Show Mrs. Peter Anderson Is Honored With Mothers Mrs. Peter Anderson, of Roos- evelt, was honored along with sixteen other mothers of the state at a very impressive program pro-gram at the Garden Park ward chapel in Salt Lake City, Sunday Sun-day afternoon. She represented all mothers of the Uintah Basin at the annual award ceremony which is held prior to the national na-tional observance of Mothers' Day. Hollis Hullinger presented her to the large audience, giv- . mg some of the outstanding highlights of her life and career as a devoted mother, friend and benefactor, which he concluded con-cluded with, "Everyone is a special friend of Mrs. Anderson and when she clasps your hand you know you are." Mrs. David O. McKay, of Salt Lake City, was honored as the Mother of Utah for 1954 and will represent the mothers of this state at the annual award ceremony in New York City's Waldorf Astoria the first week in May. She was presented a trophy award by Governor J. Bracken Lee. She also received a bouquet of red roses and, with each of the mothers honored, hon-ored, was given a beautiful corsage, courtesy of the Utah Florists Association. The annual award ceremony of the American Mothers Committee Com-mittee of the Golden Rule Foundation Foun-dation is sponsored in Utah upon up-on request of the Governor, by the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs, wim mothers from every area of the state being urged and given the opportunity to participate. The state chairman-- chairman-- ship has been under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Walter A. Kerr, of Salt Lake City, who presided over the afternoon's activities, with assistance as to selection 'of qualified nominees from the district presidents of the Utah Federation. Among those attending Sunday, Sun-day, in addition to Mrs. Anderson Ander-son and Mr. Hullinger, were Mr. and Mrs. Axel Anderson and family, Mrs. W. H. Col-tharp, Col-tharp, Jr., Mrs. J. P. Bowen, of Roosevelt, and Mr. and Mrs. Lon A. Logan, of Fort Duchesne. |
