Show Ex-Uiahn Wins Oil Land Title Culbert L. Olsen, a native Utahn and former governor of California, recently won title to 80 acres of potentially rich oil land in Uintah County through a State Supreme Court decision. Mr. Olson, now a practicing attorney in Los Angeles, acquired ac-quired title to the land in 1916. It was sold to Uintah County for unpaid taxes in 1933. It is located near Roosevelt on the Uintah-Duchesne county line. Another party purchased the property from the county but did not pay taxes for 1947-48. I The decision, written by Justice J. Allan Crockett, held that because these taxes were not paid until after a quiet title suit was started, that Mr. Olson could redeem the land. The tract is the north half of the southwest quarter of Section 34, Township 1 South, Range 1 East, Uintah Special Meridian. Phillips Petroleum Co., lessee, had been party to an earlier suit involving the land. |
