Show I 1 , News From St. Helen's 5 ! Catholic Church By - Father Pellegrino Sunday three Masses were offer-1 offer-1 ed at St. Helen's. This coming Sunday only one Mass will be said at 8:00 a.m by Father James Coyne of the Vernal Parish. We urge all, members to attend and to receive Holy Communion for the Catholic people of Hungary. At the Ave Maria "broadcast last Sunday the life of Hilary of Poitiers Poi-tiers was recorded. This coming Week, 'the life of St. Agatha will be told. She was a martyr in Sicily in the early' Christian centuries. cen-turies. Father Pellegrino is going to Sacramento to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pellegrino for a week. On .Tuesday evening the CYO held its bi-monthly meeting at the rectory. The regular business meeting meet-ing was followed by a social hour and by an instruction period on the faith of millions. Wednesday evening a group of ten attended the Catholic Men's meeting at the rectory. A very interesting discussion was held on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, which is the central, act of worship wor-ship in the Church. It is the offering of Jesus Christ under the appearance of bread and wine to His Heavenly FatheT for the sins of the world. Though a Mystical Sacrifice, it is very real. Father will hold a so-called dry Mass in a few weeks, going through all the prayers and Rubrics of the Mass without the actual Consecration Conse-cration of the bread and wine The vestments wilL be described in detail and a history of the Mass will be given. This past week visitors at the rectory were Steve Amicone of Salt Lake City and Louie Spera of Bingham. Visiting for a brief time were two of the Franciscan Sisters who visited at the convent of the Sisters Sis-ters of the Atonement. On the 21st "The Feast of The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in The Temple" will be observed. ob-served. It recalls the offering of the child Mary by her parents St. Ann and St. Joachim, at the age of three in the Temple at Jerusalem. She remained there until the time of the Incarnation, when she consented to become the Mother of Christ. |
