Show Basin League First Half Ends With Fort Buchesne Still On Top First half play ended in the. . Basin League last weekend with Fort Duchesne on top sporting a record of five wins and no defeats. de-feats. The Utes got their fifth win last week by tromping Roosevelt Roos-evelt by the 31-2 score. Other games in the loop last week saw Randlett hold their second place position by whopping Avalon 24-10, 24-10, and Bennett moved into third spot by virtue of an 8-0 win over Altamont. The Utes collected 22 nits to thoroughly trounce Roosevelt. Elmer El-mer Denver, Jr., had four hits, and Woody Harris, Ellis Denver, Lew Mallory and Jack Shaffer each had three. One of Denver's blows was a double, Shaffer banged bang-ed out two extra base hits, a triple and a double and Ellis Denver Den-ver and Harris hit triples. Bruce Jensen slapped a three bagger for Roosevelt. Jack Shaffer was the winning pitcher. He allowed the losers only four hits and struck out 20 batters- Scott Nickell was charged with the loss. Bennett continued to climb in the standings by blanking Altamont Alta-mont on the three hit pitching of Gordon Eldredge. Eldredge helped his own cause by banging two home runs and a pair of .singles. Byron Horrocks, Russell Gingell, Johnny Jorgensen and Garr Bolton each collected two safeties, and Lorain Bolton had three. One of Horrocks' blows was a triple. Randlett, bolstered by some new additions to the lineup, whacked out 23 base hits in their triumph over Avalon. The win left them one game off the pace. Henry Cuch rapped out five hits and did the hurling for Randlett. Rand-lett. He fanned 15 batters and. received re-ceived credit for the victory. Two of his hits were doubles. Ernie Lopez collected four singles sin-gles for the winners, and Dave Forcloud had three one-base blows and a triple. Jason Cuch, with three singles, Charles Reed, two singles and a double, and Homey Secakuku and Julian Reed with two singles apiece led the hitting, Randlett built up a big lead in the first three innings, when they scored four, five and six runs, respectively, re-spectively, and then breezed through the later innings.
