Show "News Biis Aboul Yesler-Years" 5 YEARS AGO Approval of the proposed Echo Park and Split Mountain reservoirs, reser-voirs, keys to the Central Utah project, was announced Tuesday by Secretary of the Interior Oscar Chapman. In a letter to Sen. Elbert D. Thomas, Secretary Chapman said he has all ready instructed the Bureau of Reclamation to draft recommendations for building the dams. "In view of the demonstrated need for water, construction of the dams was the only action I could take," Secretary Chapman wrote Senator Thomas. The unveiling of the monument commemorating the building of the first Indian agency and fort in the Uintah Basin, which was later moved to Ft. Duchesne, was held Thursday, June 22, in Tabiona at the Duchesne county Daughters of Utah Pioneers annual encampment encamp-ment meeting. He is scheduled to report at his new base in San Diego, California, July 8th where he will be an instructor of gunnery to Naval cadets.
