Show Livestock 'Oscar' The "Oscar" of the livestock industry a bronze plaque awarded annually by the Rec-, ord Stockman to "The Man of the Year in Livestock." will be presented during the Nation- j al Western Stock show night performance, Jan. 18, to Albert K. Mitchell, 55, internationally-known internationally-known Hereford rancher, of Albert, Al-bert, N. M. Selection of Mitchell was based upon his accomplishments for the livestock industry, his efforts toward solution of the foot-and-mouth disease problem in Mexico, with its favorable results for the United States, and his ability as a producer of registered and commercial cattle, cat-tle, as well as Quarter horses. Willard Simms, Record Stockman Stock-man editor, said the selection of Mitchell as the "Man of the Year in Livestock" was a "must" in the light of his national na-tional and international leadership leader-ship and ranch accomplishments. He pointed out the award marks the highest pinnacle of honor yet- attained in Mitchells' lifetime life-time devotion to the interests of ranchers and stockmen. |
