Show Funerals JOHN MURRAY Funeral services, under the direction of Rev. Joseph Hog-ben, Hog-ben, for John Murray 75 0f Whiterocks, a retired 'black smith who died Monday, Dec 26, at the Ft. Duchesne hospitai of a heart ailment, were held Monday in the Whiterocks Epis-cppal Epis-cppal church. Mr. Murray, born Feb 24 1874, in Spanish Fork, a son of John and Rachel Allred Murray had lived in the Uintah Basin since 1893. He had farmed for several years as a young man, then was employed for many years as blacksmith for the Uintah-Ouray Indian agency, retiring in 1937. In 1904 he married Maggie McConnell in Vernal.. She died two years ago. Surviving are a son. John M. Murray, stationed at Denver, Colo., with the U.S. Army; three grandchildren; a brother. Te-cumseh Te-cumseh Murray. Whiterocks; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Van, Laooint. Bu' ial was in the Roosevelt rritv cemetory. Pallbearers were Julius and Harris Murray, Ted. Doc ?nd Phillip Van, and Mel-vin Mel-vin Hackford. SARAH E. HARVEY TRIDELL Funeral services for Sarah E. Harvey. 83 were held Wednesday in the Tridell LDS chapel. Bishop H. LeRoy Merrill officiating. Interement was in the Tridell cemetery. Mrs. Harvey died Saturday about 5 p. m. at her home of causes incident to age. She was born November 9, 1866, at Moroni, a daughter of John and Sarah Prestwich Kel-lett. Kel-lett. She was married to James D. Harvey in the Manti Endowment Endow-ment house, LDS church, Aug. 1, 1888. About 1890 they moved from Moroni to Mexico, where Mr. Harvey died in 1912. She returned re-turned to Moroni in 1912, and in July, 1915, moved to Tridell, where she had since resided. An active church worker, she served several years in the pres-j pres-j idency of the Relief society. Seven of her eight sons and daughters survive? Mrs. Sarah Hardy, St. George; James B., William K., John M. Harvey, and Mrs. Thora McConkie, all of Tridell; Mrs. Eliza Bigler, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Maude Boyes, Tridell; a half sister, Mrs. Dorothy Coppus, Salt Lake City; 38 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. MRS ARTEMESIA BOWDEN Mrs. Artemesia Bowden, 50, died suddenly at her home, Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. Mrs. Bowden was born Dec. 12, 1899, in Emery county, a daughter of James and Emeline Sophia Minchey Foote. On September 22, 1922, she married Oliver L. Bowden in Vernal. This marriage was sol-' sol-' emnized in the Manti LDS temple, tem-ple, Oct. 19, 1922. She moved to Duchesne county coun-ty from Emery in 1915, taking up residence at Altonah, where she lived until 1925. She moved to Lapoint in 1925 and back to Altonah a year later. Her residence res-idence in Altonah was continuous contin-uous until 1945. when she moved to Gusher. Survivors include her hus- band; six daughters, Mrs. Vel-da Vel-da Burgess, Altonah; Mrs. Genevieve Gen-evieve Marshall, Huntington; Mrs. Oral Clark, Gusher; Freda, Dora Lee and Joy Bowden, Altonah; Al-tonah; and one son, June LeRoy Bowden, Altonah; five brothers, Charles Foote, Price; Ammon Foote, Murray; Jake Foote, Gunnison; Gun-nison; Warren Foote, Salt Lake City; and Oscar Foote, Castle-gate; Castle-gate; and three sisters, Mrs. Francis James, Huntington; Mrs. Teena Case, Murray; and Mrs. Edna Jensen, Manti. Six grandchildren also survive her. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Gusher ward chapel, Bishop Acel Parry officiating. Burial will be in the Altonah cemetery. |
