Show Four From Area Get Degrees At Brigham Young Four residents from this area were listed among the graduating class in the summer convocation of the 80th annual commencement exertises held last Friday, Aug. 19. Three received master degrees and one his bachelors. P. Wendel Johnson, on leave from his duties the past year as principal of the Roosevelt LDS Seminary; Melvin J. Peterson, (Seminary instructor at Roosevelt in 1953-54, and Rulon N. Smithson, of Neol'a, were awarded master's degrees, and James Keith Duke of Duchesne, received his bachelor's degree. Mr. Johnson has returned from the BYU and will again take up his duties as Seminary principal. His master's degree was in the field of personnel and guidance. Mr. Peterson's higher degree was in scripture. Latest information from the Petersons is that he and his family will go to Flagstaff, Arizona as an instructor in the LDS Institute of Religion. Mr. Smithson's degree was in French and he has accepted a teaching post at the "Y." |
