Show Taxes Return SCO Million To Utah En '52 Taxes' collected by state and local governments in Utah during dur-ing the fiscal year ended June 30, 1951, totaled $88 million, or approximately $127.88 for every man, woman and child residing in the state. This total does not include federal taxes, nor does it include in-clude fees or charges paid for I specific services rendered by government. Property taxes charged during dur-ing the 1950 tax year amounted amount-ed to $38.1 million, or 43.3 per cent of the total state and local tax collections in fiscal 1951. Of this amount, local school district dis-trict and state school equalization equaliza-tion property taxes accounted for $22.9 million, city and town property taxes for $7.6 million, county property taxes for $6.0 million, and local road and bounty property taxes for $1.7 million. Taxes earmarked for the support sup-port of public schools in Utah during the 1951 fiscal year were $31.8 million, or 36 per cent of total state and local taxes. Property Pro-perty taxes for schools (local taxes and state school equalization equaliza-tion tax) amounted to $22.3 million, and state income a"d corporation franchise t3xes (now earmarked exclusive for schools) amounted to $8 9 million. |
