Show Printing Industry, Weekly Papers Protest State's Printing Business At a recent meeting of the Printing Industry of 'Utah, a resolution . was adopted wherein where-in they expressed opposition to the State of Utah entering the printing business in competition to the legitimate printing establishments es-tablishments in Utah. Following the passing of the resolution by the Utah printers, the executive committee of the Utah State Press Association, at their last regular meeting held in Salt Lake City on March 8 adopted the same resolution. Copies of the resolutions have been presented to the governor and to his committee on printing. print-ing. Following is the resolution: "BE IT RESOLVED, that the Printing Industry of Utah is opposed to the purchase or continued con-tinued operation of any and all letterpress or photo-offset printing print-ing equipment with the exception excep-tion or ditto, mimeographing or liquid duplicating machines by and department or agency of the State of Utah. ."The industry feels that it is entitled to the same consideration consid-eration as any other branch of the manufacturing" group and should not be placed in a competitive com-petitive position with a tax supported unit of government. "The industry is resolved to assist the State of Utah in every ev-ery way possible to meet the printing requirements of all of its departments and agencies, and to cooperate with the Governor's Gov-ernor's Committee on Printing in making an immediate ana complete investigation of state printing. ; x |
