Show Soil Waste Is Costing America $2,000 Every M 'x-Siff immmm rffiTc--cr Trar" How much do you think our annual soil waste is costing us year in and year out every year? The Secretary of the Department of Agriculture answered this question thusly: "By the most conservative estimate, more than a billion dollars. Part of the cost consists of damage to reservoirs, streams, harbors, irrigation ditches; part to damage of drainage and flood losses; part to damage of railways and highways; and part to lowered crop yields. A billion dollars a year is a soil waste equal to about two thousand dollars a minute, day and night, seven days a week." UTAH CONSERVATION WEEK APRIL 8 TO 14 |
