Show Report On Sohool Beard sefing Issued By Supt A report on the April 5 meeting meet-ing of the Duchesne County Board of Education has been released for publication by Supt. Rowan C. Stutz. All five members of the board were" present for the meeting, meet-ing, the superintendent and the clerk. The board received and reviewed a report of the district sanitary engineer, en-gineer, Ariel Michie, on Duchesne County school lunch centers. Generally', Gen-erally', the reports were found to be complimentary, with recommendations recom-mendations for additional, storage facilities. Approximately one acre is contained con-tained in this area. The school building was moved to the school grounds at Altamont a few years ago. Expenditure of $34,352.48 for the March expenses, other than the teacher payroll, of the district was approved by the board. The teacher payroll is about $25,000.00 in additional monthly expenditure for the district. Salaries Increased After further study and consideration, consid-eration, the board rescinded their March decision relative to teacher salaries in this district for the 1956-57 school term and revised the' salary schedule to allow approximately ap-proximately a flat $100 increase in the term salary to teachers. The revised schedule raises the beginning salary from $3,200 to $3,300. Maximum salary to teach-srs teach-srs was raised from $4,295 to $4,-400. $4,-400. Maximum salaries are paid to teachers with 14 or more years of service to the district. This salary schedule is the same as adopted by the Uintah School District except for the maximum salary being paid after 13 years of service. In making this decision, the board voted to reduce the 1956-57 1956-57 term teaching staff to supply money necessary for the' increase granted in the teacher salary scale. Other Appointments Other appointments were Ken Hardy as custodian of the Roosevelt Roose-velt Jr. High- School, tcr replace Byron Bowden, who was appointed as bus mechanic and maintenance foreman at the Roosevelt School bus garage. Mr. Bowden replaces Seth Asay who resigned the job effective April 1. Jack Allred, clerk of the works for the two Roosevelt school building build-ing projects. Performance bond's and insurance insur-ance certificates from the Hansen Construction Co. and Hogan and Tingey, contractors for the Roosevelt Roose-velt school building projects were received. Contract for the Tabiona building build-ing project was approved and signed by the board, with Alternate Alter-nate No. 3. Changes to be made in the construction, under this alternate, al-ternate, will be replacing wood interior in-terior partitions with glazed structural struc-tural tile. This construction change will add $2,470.00 to the original contract price of $170,070.00, to Fred M. Reynolds of Price. Faculty Changes The following change's of faculty assignment were approved for the 1956-57 school year: Gerald Mitchell, Mitch-ell, teacher at the Roosevelt Elementary Ele-mentary School, assigned to the principalship of the Neola Elementary Ele-mentary School; Naomi Gilbert and Renon Christensen, teachers at the Duchesne Elementary School, assigned to the Duchesne High School staff; Keith Harmon as teacher at the Duchesne Elementary Ele-mentary School. B. A. Jacoby, board chairman reported on the activities of the Utah School Boards Association, of which he is a vice-president, and the' proposed school legislation for the 1957 Utah Legislature. Supt. Rowan C. Stutz was instructed in-structed to have a survey made of the electrical wiring and lighting needs of the Neola School. The board gave authorization to initiate a change' order to restore the home p Genomics department cabinet work in the Roosevelt Jr. High School building project, if the change order is approved by the state agencies. This change would add about $10,000.00 to the original contract of $229,601.00, awarded to Hogan and Tingey of Centerville, Utah. The appointments of three administrative ad-ministrative staff members for the 1956-57 school year were approved at the April meeting of the Duchesne Du-chesne County Board of Education. Farrell J. Humphreys, who is now serving as district guidance director, was reappointed for the 1956-57 school term. Mrs. LaRue N. Burgess was appointed ap-pointed special teacher to the academically handicapped children in the district for the 1956-57 school term. Mrs. Burgess has been acting elementary school supervisor su-pervisor for the district this term. Ray Warner of Provo, has been appointed as district elementary school supervisor for the 1956-57 term. |
