Show Program Is Balanced . . . . Duchesne County Fair Opens With Stock Judging Friday I 'Miss Duchesne County' Contest, Rodeo Feature Two-Day Program Tomorrow morning. Friday, at 10 o'clock, the annual Duchesne Du-chesne County Fair will officially of-ficially open its doors with judging of livestock as the firs. : : phase of the 2-day program that jwill include just about everything every-thing that a county fair embraces. em-braces. A well balanced program of entertainment, featuring a night rodeo for Saturday, plus baseball, base-ball, racing, sports for the kids, concerts, dancing and Miss Duchesne Du-chesne County contest offers something to keep everyone interested in-terested from the time the fair opens tomorrow until it closes Saturday evening following the rodeo. Hogs are first on the judging agenda, followed by the sheep exhibits, beef, -dairy- and horses. Exhibits in this department will be accepted, until 10 a- m. Friday. Fri-day. Flowers will be received as exhibits from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m. Friday. At 2 p. m.. the Girls' 4-H Club Style Dress Review is scheduled at the LDS chapel, followed from 3 to 5 p. m. by the Girls' )4-H demonstration contest. , , Racing Program The ' racing and sports program, pro-gram, is scheduled from 3 lo 5 p. m.. also, and will include children's foot races, horseshoe pitching', pony race, novelty racing, rac-ing, potato race, sack race, stake race, trick riding, and a pig scramble. ' Concert Concert music will be played at the chapel beginning at 7:30 p. m. Gay Wagstaff and her accordian sextette -from Provo will play the -"concert music preceeding the "Miss Duchesne County" contest finals at 8:30 at the chapel. It had been planned to hold these features at the city park, but fair workers work-ers decided that the audience and contestants would be more comfortable at the chapel. Following the rodeo, on Saturday Sat-urday evening, Tal Wardle's orchestra will play dance music for the- "fair" dance to be held at the Duchesne High School gymnasium. Parade on Saturday Highlight of the Saturday afternoon af-ternoon program for the fair is the parade scheduled for 1:30 Route for the parade is from the school grounds,, north three blocks down main street, south to the fairgrounds, where winning win-ning livestock entries will included in the line, then to the arena. Five school bands have been asked to participate in the parade.' pa-rade.' They are Tabiona, Alta-mont, Alta-mont, Union, Duchesne and Uintah. Uin-tah. The Garfield drum and bugle bu-gle corps is expected to join in the parade. Color bearers for the parade will be members of the Duchesne Du-chesne American Legion Post, directed by Troy Bailey, commander. com-mander. The Roosevelt Riding Club, sponsors of the amateur rodeo, will be represented in the parade, as will entries ir. the pony races. Other floats are being designed de-signed and constructed by business busi-ness men and organizations throughout the county for entrj in the parade Saturday. At 2:30 p. m. Friday, a baseball base-ball game, Duchesne vs. Myton, is scheduled at the ball park. Myton recently won the Uintah Basin League Championship. Rodeo Under Lights The amateur rodeo will get underway at 8 p. m. Saturday night under the newly installed flood lights, which were erected as a joint project of Duchesne City and the L D S Church at a cost of approximately $3,000. This rodeo, featuring stock and riders who participated in the widely-known Neola and Mont-wel Mont-wel rodeos, is being sponsored by the Roosevelt Riding Club. "Miss Duchesne County" and her attendants will be honor guests at the Saturday night rodeo. Special features of entertainment entertain-ment for the rodeo fans include performances by Lila Hendricks of Fort Duchesne, trick riding-, and other special events. All traffic will be directed to the west entrance of the park and around to the parking area which has been prepared during the past few weeks. Traffic will be one-way,, and will exit to the Indian Canyon road. This arrangement will eliminate traf fic hazards near the concession stands, grand stand and exhibit area. Inspection of Exhibits Exhibits are open for public: inspection frorn 10 a. m. to 11 p. m. Friday, and from 9 a. m. to 5 p.- m., Saturday. There is no admission to any of the exhibit ex-hibit displays. Exhibitors must claim their own . property at the close of the fair after 5 p. m. Saturday. Exhibits must be left in their respective departments until the close of the fair, otherwise all awards will be forfeited. |
