Show Joe Norton Plans Art School For Roosevelt On Monday, Sept. 22, Joseph A. . Norton, local artist, will open the Norton School of Art in the Broderick Building, upstairs up-stairs above Bert's sporting goods store. He announces his plans to teach classes in figure painting,' drawing, and landscape land-scape painting. A native of the Uintah Basin, Mr. Norton has spent most of the past thirty years studying art and has been tutored by such prominent Utah artists a.s Huntsman of St. George, Carl E. Olsen,. Price; Lee Parkinson, Ogden (founder of the Ogden Art Colony); and Florence Ware of Salt Lake. Then, for two years he was a student at the Art Barn in Salt Lake. He has done several pictures that have won acclaim of critics. He was active in the organization of the Seven Arts Olub in Roosevelt, which sponsored the recent art exhibit at the U B I C. According to Mr. Norton, he hopes to be able to develop an art consciousness in the Basin and aid young people who have talent. Classes will be informal and will encourage freedom of expression. Classes will be held at niht or during the day to meet the student's needs. They will be offered of-fered on every level adults, juvenile, beginners or advanced.
