Show Family Gathers For Birthday Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kettle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook and family, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Betts and their two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Betts and their two children, Mrs. Mary Collins, of Roosevelt, and Mrs. Leslie Collins, of Salt Lake City, enjoyed a family get-together get-together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Betts on Friday. Aug. 29. The occasion celebrated Mr. Bett's birthday. Due to' the heavy electric storm Friday evening, the transformers trans-formers at the LaRose and Averett homes were knocked out of commission. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Wiseman and family, of Red Bluff. Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Patrich, of Springville, called Monday, Aug 25, at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Crouch and small son, of Roy, were weekend visitors at the home of Mrs. Crouch's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Alden White. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lemon, of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Verna Lemon, of Scipio, were recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire Mrs. Verna Lemon is Mrs. Squires mother. Attendance at the L D S Sunday Sun-day School was 270 this week, which is somewhat of a record. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Showell and family, of Salt LaV- City, brought Mrs. S. B. Ket'.le home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ward and family, of St. George, were campers at the Alterra School grounds one night last week. Mr. Ward is a son of Prof. W. F. Ward, who was an early pioneer pi-oneer of Alterra, and attended his first school in the old Alterra Al-terra School house. He notes there is much, improvement L the county since he left at the age of 12 years. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham. Mr. and Mrs. Seth Asay, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Squire, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Betts. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Frandsen, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jensen, of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Ernest Betts and Max Todd attended the elders' ! party at the Roosevelt City Park on August 27. Thirteen of the officers and teachers of the Ballard Primary attended the Stake convention at Rio'asevelt Saturday afternoon. after-noon. Only three teachers were absent. Our congratulations to Miss Marilyn Brighton for being one of two' girls from Union High School selected to enter finals for the Seminar Sallies held in Salt Lake City last week. The event was sponsored by the Deseret News. Thursday, August 28, was the last day of 4H Club activities for this year. Some of the girls took their work to the exhibit at Vernal on Aug. 28. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kettle, Mr. and Mrs. Max Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Rasmussen, Rasmus-sen, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parrish, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Gines, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Olson, Mrs. Elsie Secrest, and Mr. and Mrs. Geo Bracken enjoyed a square dance Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Hollings-worth Hollings-worth and family, of Flagstaff, , Arizona, are making a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Squire Mangum. Mr. Mangum is Mrs. Hollingsworth's father. It has been several years since they had seen each other. Millie Cook, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook, cut her nose seriously last week. Several stitches had to be taken. |
