The regular Future- Home-makers Home-makers of America convention was held Saturday, March 22, at the Union High School gymnasium, gym-nasium, with Miss Joanne Hol-gate. Mrs. Daren Young, guest speaker during the afternoon, encouraged the girls to be good citizens as well as good home-homemakers. home-homemakers. The Union High FHA Club, .represented with twenty members, mem-bers, performed the opening ceremony and presented a sextet sex-tet and a skit as their part of the program. Fifteen girls from the Duchesne Du-chesne High FHA Club were in attendance and rendered a musical mus-ical number and a very amusing amus-ing skit. Mrs. Tobler is class leader. The next event on the afternoon's after-noon's entertainment featured a reading and a skit from Miss Nelson's FHA Club from Uintah High School; and an accordian solo and a song were presented present-ed by Mrs. Buxton's home economics ec-onomics class at Roosevelt Jr. High: Uintah High and Roosevelt Roose-velt Jr. High had fifteen members mem-bers present. Each of the clubs present at Saturday's convention nominated nomin-ated a girl for state secretary for the coming year and was represented by a campaign man ager who showed quite a spirited spir-ited political ability. The voting delegates nominated nomin-ated Miss Myrna Taylor, of Union Un-ion High for the office. The Union High FHA feels justly proud of this honor. This year the Union FHA Club had two of the eight state officers chosen chos-en from its school Miss Joanne Jo-anne Holgate, state treasurer, I and Miss Marilyn Zirker, state i song leader. These girls have done an outstanding job. |
