Show 30 Answer Track ; Call At Union; Prospects Bright With basketball suits tucked ) away in mothballs for another J year, thoughts and actions at j Union High School have been j turned to athletic activities that are played during the spring j season (where they have spring). According to Coach Glen Allred, All-red, and despite the very poni-cooperation poni-cooperation of the weatherman, approximately thirty boys are working out in the gymnasium in preparation for the coming track and field events. There are several boys with considerable experience. Foremost Fore-most among these is Elvin Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, defending champion of the state in the mile. Others with experience are John Benson, Ben-son, winner of the 100 and 220 yard dashes in the District meet last year; Marion Morrill, pole, vault champion at both the district dis-trict and regional meets; Brent Morrill. 440 yard champion at the district meet; and Brice Searle, 100 and 220 yard champion cham-pion in the, region meet (if he decides to go out for track again this year). Others who placed in meets last year and promise to be strong in their events are: Don Killian in the weights; Doyle Huber in the hurdles and jumps; Ken Nickell in the hurdles and middle- distances; Gwen Bodily in the 440; Duane Richins in the 880; Morgan Glines in the hurdles hur-dles and Robert Stolla in the high jump. The remainder of the squad of hopefuls is as follows: Gilbert Gil-bert Harris, Lloyd Ostler, Rus-sel Rus-sel McCall, Milton Mecham, Albert Al-bert Collotzi, Gordon Eldredge, Ford Larsen, Myrlin Fenn, Albert Al-bert Barney, David Kelsey, Johnny Jorgensen. Geraid Hatch. Allen Gines, Dale Harrison,- Keith Walker, Larry All-red, All-red, Wayne Brown. Track and Field meets are scheduled on the following dates: District Meet April 12 at Vernal. State Relays April 19 BYU Invitational Meet April 24-25. Regional Meet May 3 at Huntington. State Meet May 9. Unless something is done about the weather in short order, or-der, some of the above dates will probably have to be postponed. |
