Show Yearbook Dance Draws Record Crowd Fri. Another successful Yoon-Yun Yearbook dance . was staged at Union High School last Friday night, with a record crowd attending at-tending and participating in the carnival activity, which featured attractions for everyone. Main highlight of the evening was the selection of Union's favorite favor-ite girl and boy, with coveted titles going to Miss Bonnie Daniels, Dan-iels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Daniels of Ft. Duchesne, and Ken Bastian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bastian of Neola. Gifts for the winners were donated don-ated by Nielson Jewelry for the girl and Sather Jewelry for the boy. Presentation was made by Theron Leavitt, president of the Union High School Board of Education. Edu-cation. A special feature of the evening was the auction, which saw many valuable gifts auctioned, which were donated by local merchants. Neil Scott of Provo, professional auctioneer, did a masterful job in auctioning the many items. He was assisted by Maxine Murphy. Townspeople, who mingled with the students to assist with the various booths were: Country Store, Irma Sutteer;, tickets, Joan Ross; Food sale, Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Buchanan and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Bowman; Fish pond, Mrs. Jessie Pickup; novelty booth, Mrs. Ralph Dart; grab bags, Mrs. Ned Gines and Mrs. Floyd Labrum; dart game, Mayor Paul Murphy. Doc Jenkins portrayed the part of "Marrin' Sam," and Don Soren-sen Soren-sen was the main barker for the evening. Yoon-Yun Staff members and their -advisor, Mrs. Blanche Murphy, feel very gratified over the huge success of the carnival, proceeds from which will pay for publication of the yearbook. Exact amount of profit has not yet been determined. All prizes and auction articles were donated by the merchants from Myton, Neola, TrideU, La-point, La-point, Ft. Duchesne, Gusher, Randlett Rand-lett and Roosevelt and the committees com-mittees wish to express their great appreciation to the public and faculty for their wholehearted cooperation. Dancing was enjoyed to Tal Wardle's orchestra. TWO BEER PERMITS ARE APPROVED BY COMMISSIONERS Two new beer permits have been approved by the Duchesne County Commissioners. Kenneth Judd received a permit to sell beer at an establishment in Utahn and Clifford Bastian and Don Fieldstead received a permit for a beer and general merchandise business at Neola. The beer per- ' mits are good until Dec. 31 of this year, then must be renewed six months at a time. |
