Bacon took oath of office Saturday evening, Sept. 22, to begin his third year as Roosevelt Roose-velt District Chairman in the local geographical division of the Utah National Parks Council, reports Rulon Dean Skinner, Field Scout Executive. Nominated along with other Roosevelt District scout offficials by a nominating . committee consisting con-sisting of Paul Murphy, chairman; Clifton N. Memrnott, Ken Trujillo, Harold White and Evan Percival. as members, the Roosevelt District Dis-trict officials were unanimously elected at the Roosevelt District annual meting Sept. 22. Spencer Squire took oath of office as Roosevelt District Commissioner Com-missioner for the Scouting year, 1956-57. Floyd Labrum, last year's organization or-ganization and extension chair- man, was named new district vice-chairman. . Loren Alexander, last year's district camping and activities chairman, was reelected to the same office. Joseph E. Leo Haueter, who has served as a neighborhood commissioner and vice-chairman, was selected to be the new district leadership training train-ing chairman. Gordon Harmston is the district health and safety chairman with Dr. Donald Mantyla as a member of his committee. Sharon Cummings, who has successfully suc-cessfully served for two previous years, began his third year as Roosevelt District Advancement chairman. Heading the organization and extension committee is Holt Wardle of Myton. Each institution which sponsors a scouting unit has .the right of membership on the scout district through an institutional representative represent-ative which becomes a member of one of six district operating committees. com-mittees. , Eight of the district's 15 institutional insti-tutional representatives were assigned as-signed by district chairman Bacon to an operating committee at Saturday's Sat-urday's annual meeting. Others Serve Zane Asay, Ballard, and Dale Crozier, Neola, will serve on the organization and extension committee; com-mittee; Mat Folley, Roosevelt 2nd, and Venil P. Johnson, Roosevelt 3rd, are on the camping and activities ac-tivities committee;. Maurel Taylor, Montwel. and Howard B. Allen, Episcopal church, will serve in the leadership training committee; Floyd Wilkerson, Roosevelt 4th, and Don Simmons, Whiterocks LDS, were placed in the advancement advance-ment committee. Program emphasis for the scouting scout-ing year, 1956-57, was presented by Rulon Dean Skinner. Field Scout Executive of the Utah National Na-tional Parks Council. Present for the annual meeting were James E. Bacon, Floyd La-brum, La-brum, Loren Alexander, Spencer Squire, Howard' B. Allen, Maurel Taylor, Floyd Wilkerson, Zane Asay, Mat Folley and Rulon Dean Skinner. |
