Show RURAL I DELIUER Y I By Arvin L. Bellon Roosevelt Postmaster Parents and friends of our local men and women serving in the Armed Forces overseas from time to time send packages and gifts to them via Air Mail. For some time now there has been a limit of two pounds placed on Air Mail parcels destined for delivery at APO or FPO addresses. If you are mailing to these addresses you are advised to make certain that your Air Parcel Post going to them does not exceed .the two-pound two-pound limit because we are unable un-able to accept it for mailing at the Roosevelt Post Office. If your packages are too heavy for Air Parcel Post we recommend that you send them as registered first class mail to speed delivery. R-D "Postmark This Yesterday" Every once in a while a patron asks us, if we will be so kind as to post-mark his letter with yesterday's yester-day's postmark because he is late with an insurance payment, or he desires ,to have an early postmark advantage in some contest he is entering. However valid and worthy the reason given, Postal I Regulations strictly forbid using any but the current postmark on all mail. We hope our patrons will understand why we must refuse all such requests. R-D You should be preparing Christmas Christ-mas Parcels for Armed Forces overseas as they must be mailed between Oct. 15 and Nov 15 to insure delivery by Christmas. |
