Show i News Briefs From Neighboring - - - NEOLA ' ;! Zola Spencer A New Bishop The Neola bishopric was reorganized re-organized Sunday. Those sustained were Lee Jensen, bishop; Roy Gardner and Lawrence Luck, the counselors. Bishop Richard D. Olsen, who was released, has filled the position the past four years. ATTEND BPW MEETING The BPW held their meeting in Roosevelt Friday. Those attending from here were Lecta Horrocks, Lillian Peterson, Wanda Riggle and Sadie Blank. The teachers and cooks of the Neola school enjoyed a chicken supper last Thursday evening at the Neola Elementary School. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Harrison are the proud parents of a new son, who arrived Sunday, Sept. 30. This makes two sons for them. DUP HOLDS MEETING FRIDAY The Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their meeting at Rose Gardner's Gard-ner's home last Friday evening. The lesson was presented by Mrs. Jennie Woodward. The subject was "The Pioneers of 1856." There were fourteen at the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Petro Forakis and three daughters of Kearns visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Eksund. The three daugh-' daugh-' ters stayed at the Eksund home a couple1 of days while their par ents went on a short fishing trip to one of the lakes up Uinta Canyon. They returned to the Eksund home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hoopes of Whiterocks joined with them in a family dinner. Mrs. Eksund and Mrs. Forakis are sisters and the daughters of J. O. Hoopes. Mrs. Cora Gardner has been to Salt Lake City for a checkup. She has been under the doctor's care all summer. Her. daughter, Rayma of Idaho Falls is here visiting her. Mr. and Mrs. Don Horrocks and three sons have moved to Provo where Don will attend school at the BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Claire Mills and three daughter of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Don Davis of Vernal paid a visit to the home of Lorin Mills over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Edrington have moved to Roosevelt where Scott is employed by the Drol-linger Drol-linger Furntiure Store. .. . Mr. and Mrs. Lavell Horrocks and Victor Horrocks of Salt Lake , City visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Theron Horrocks last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Duncan have been visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. OHf Duncan. Mrs. Amanda Duncan, mother of O'if, underwent an operation a short time ago. Mrs. Duncan is 86 years old. Her daughter, Mrs. James Mecham, of Orem is staying with her at the present time. The Neola primary officers and teachers attended the Union meeting meet-ing in Roosevelt Saturday and also their ward primary preparation prepara-tion meeting which was held on Monday evening. POLITICIANS VISIT AREA There was a caravan of state and county Democrats in Neola Monday morning at 10 o'clock. A number of the Neola people attended the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Mecham of Gunison were visitors over the the weekend at the Peter Duncan home. Nolan is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Duncan. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mitchell returned re-turned home after a two-week vacation to Washington, Oregon, Canada and California. The Squire Mangum family has moved into the Seth Asay home. Mr. and Mrs. Aasay have moved to Salt Lake City where he has employment with the Utah Sand and Gravel Co. Mrs. Evan Olsen has returned from the hospital, with a new son. Little Leslie Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gardner, fell off a grainery and cut his head which required six stitches. Lawrence Luck christened ins new son Sunday and gave him the name of Robin Lawrence. The MIA held its special program pro-gram Sunday evening. Mrs. Cleona Nelson has been sustained as the new speach director. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malnar and daughter, Cherryl, made a trip to Salt Lake City Friday and returned return-ed Sunday. |
