Show ' Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 Opening Social The opening social of the Relief Re-lief Society of the Combined wards was held Tuesday afternoon with thirty-nine ladies in attendance. Some time was spent in playing games and getting acquainted. A delicous lunch was served to the group including a large group of youngsters, and all were invited to Relief Society's first lesson on Tuesday, Oct. 2. MANGUMS HONORED Saturday evening a neighborhood neighbor-hood party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alden White in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Squire Mangum and family who have moved to Neola. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kettle, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Gines, Mr. and Mrs. Golden Collins, Mr. and Mrs. John Page, Mr. and Mrs. John Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire and Mrs. Spencer Squire and the Whites. A delicious pot luck lunch was served and the evening was spent visiting. Mr. and Mrs. David Lundberg and family spent two days in Salt Lake City and Ogden last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shisler went to Duchesne Friday to attend the funeral services of Alma Poulson. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shisler and daughters accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Arden Robbins of Vernal to attend the funeral. Mr. Poulson was the grandfather of Mrs. Karl Shisler and Mrs. Robbins. Boyd Collins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Golden Collins, is employed in Salt Lake City. BREAKS HER HIP Mrs. John Tyron, Sr. who has been staying with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dar-rell Dar-rell McConkie fell and broke her hip the past week and had to be taken to Salt Lake City. Enoch StoWa who has been in Wisconsin for quite a while flew to Salt Lake City last week. From there he came by bus to visit a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Stolla. He left to go back to Salt Lake City last Saturday. From there he would fly to Los Angeles to visit his three brothers, Gerhard, Eric and Robert. He then plans to go to Berkely, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Squire Mangum heard from their son, Jay, who is in the armed forces and stationed at Amarillo, Texas, with the Air Force. He expects to go to Africa soon. GIVEN DISCHARGE Mr. and Mrs. Russel Todd and Mrs. Howard Todd left Tuesday to meet Howard in Salt Lake City. He had just completed one year in Korea. Howard has received re-ceived his honorable discharge from the Army. His wife, the former Maxine Winkler, and two small sons .have been living with her parents in Bluebell while he was overseas. Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Seeley and famliy of Bountiful visited friends in Roosevelt and Ballard over the weekend. , They belonged to the Ballard ward at one time. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parrish entertained en-tertained Mr. and Mrs. Kine Hatch and family and Mr. and Mis. Calvin Cal-vin Squire at dinner Friday evening. eve-ning. Mrs. Eva Bellon and daughter, Shanna Moore, had a nice trip to Salt Lake City last week. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sprouse enjoyed the Fair and Ice Follies in Salt Lake City, last week and visited with their daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Angus of Grand Junction were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus Monday. Mrs. D. S. T. Oakley of Jensen visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Butcher Recently. OVER THE TOP The MIA met with splendid results re-sults in the Era drive last week. Their quota was 37 and they received re-ceived 58 subscriptions. Mrs. John Birchell accompanied her daughter, Mrs. Charles Haddock, Had-dock, of Vernal to Salt Lake City last week, where they had a nice visit. Ercil. Johnson has been on the sick list for a while. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shisler made a trip to Manila recently to visit an elderly aunt of Mrs. Shisler who has been quite ill. Mr. and "Mrs. Alma Collins and two granddaughters and Mrs. Grace Collins of Salt Lake City, visited at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Betts and Mr. and Mrs. Golden Collins. They were out to visit their mother, Mrs. Mary Collins Col-lins also. P-TA WILL MEET We are happy to announce that Darrell Williams of Ft. Duchesne will remain here and wilil be president presi-dent of the P-TA. All parents are urged to attend the meeting Thurs. evening Oct. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Johnson and family of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Mohlman and family of Bountiful were all weekend guests at the Russel Todd home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parrish spent last Sunday in Salt Lake City visiting Mr. Parrish's mother who is ill. Mrs. Calvin Squire took care of the children during Parrish's absence. Mrs. Glen Molyneaux and small daughter of Granger spent several sev-eral days last week with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Stolla. Theo Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gareth Anderson, is one of the twelve scouts registered from the Basin to attend the National Jamboree to be held July 12-18 at Valley Forge, Va. Mrs. Nola Larsen and Mrs. Azel Seeley of Salt Lake were in attendance attend-ance at the Relief Society party on Tuesday. FAMILY GETS TOGETHER A Todd get together was held at the Russel Todd home on Sunday Sun-day with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Todd and two sons as special guests. Other menubers of the family were the Wendell Johnsons of Ogden, the Farrei Mohlmans of Bountiful, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mc-Kenna Mc-Kenna and small son of Provo, Mr .and Mrs. Keith Todd of Roosevelt Roose-velt and Mr. and Mrs. Max Todd and children of Ballard. Von Haslem was a business visitor in Vernal and at Neola one day last week. |
