Show News Briefs From Neighboring . . . , NEOLA Lecta Horrocks Open Night At Neola M.I. A. "Open Night" for June was spent by MIA members in viewing two short plays presented by the Beehive girls. At the close, class leader, Mollie Spencer, presented Bishop Richard Olsen with a check for $25.50. This amount had been earned by members of the two classes through sale of their Beehive quilt. The sum is to be used on the stake building fund. Outdoor games comprised the balance of the time, after which light refreshments were served. Miss Charlotte Henrie spent the past week in Salt Lake City visiting vis-iting relatives and attending ses sions of the conference. Guests at the Norman Holmes residence are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stenson and two children. Mr. Stenson has been employed in Central America, and is vacationing vacation-ing here, enroute to Oregon, where he has been transferred. GO TO MIA CAMP Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whiting took the following Beehive girls to the summer camp in American Fork Canyon last Monday: Rosanne Olsen, Ol-sen, Judy Bastian, Myrna Whiting, Helen Anderton, Rosanne Gardner. Gard-ner. The Whitings visited at the Frank Mecham home during the girls' stay at the camp, Mrs. Mecham is hospitalized at the Provo Hospital. Spending the past weekend in Salt Lake City were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Olsen and children. HOSPITALS GET TOLL OF NEOLA FOLKS This small community has contributed con-tributed more than its share of hospital patients during the past week. Grover Dye was an overnight over-night patient at the Roosevelt Hospital last Monday, with what appeared to be appendicitis, but later developed into food poisoning. poison-ing. Mrs. Davis suffered a heart attack, and was an inmate of the same hospital for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Fred LaRose spent the past week in Salt Lake City, where they had taken their son, Loren, for medical attention. Elroy Halverson was rushed to Salt Lake City Friday evening by the reoccurance of a former ailment, but latest reports indicated that the expected operation would not be necessary.. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Glines, of Layton, visited here last Saturday at the Glenn Davis residence. The couple were enroute home with a new car they were driving from the factory. Mr. and Mrs. Tal Wardle were Salt Lake City visitors last Friday. Fri-day. Visiting relatives in Neola are Bradley and Arlene Keel, of Salt Lake City. Miss Leah Elmer, of Ogden, is spending the summer here with her grandmother, Elizabeth Pres-cott. Pres-cott. She will be employed at Steve and Ned's Cafe in Roosevelt Roose-velt during the school vacation. Stephen Malnar has accepted the position of assistant scoutmaster scoutmas-ter in this area. Visiting at the home of her nephew, Ivan Bastian last Thursday Thurs-day was Mrs. Reva Farnsworth, of St. George. She is the mother of Philo Farnsworth who is often referred to as the "father of television." Mr. and Mrs. Leland Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Luck and two sons spent the past weekend week-end enjoying the sights of Las Vegas, Nevada. Eighteen little friends of Tonia Holmes gathered at the family residence last Saturday to help celebrate her fifth birthday. Games and party refreshments kept them entertained, with a miniature washer being the center of attraction. at-traction. Attending the Seeley-Meriweth-er reunion last Sunday at Heber were Mr. and Mrs. Deon Spencer and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Morrill. COMMUNITY CLUB MEETS Mrs. Virgie Bastian was hostess hos-tess to members of the Community Commun-ity Club last Friday evening, with Naomi Gardner and Colleen Gardner Gard-ner assisting. The group enjoyed a discourse by Rulon Skinner of Roosevelt, after which dainty refreshments re-freshments were served. |
