Show Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 I MISSION FRIENDS " VISIT MISSIONARIES Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Aiken and son Dee, Mrs. Sanzil, mother of Mrs. Aiken, Mrs. Mildred Al-baugh Al-baugh and daughters, Anne and Joan, from Greenville, South Carolina, Car-olina, visited Orlan Cook at his home last week. They were on their way to attend June conference confer-ence in Salt Lake City. Other visitors vis-itors to see Orlan Were Mr. and Mrs. William Watts and family, of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Mr. Watts is branch president of the Catawba branch at Rock Hill. Orlan Or-lan was acquainted with these people while on his mission in the Southern States. Owen Burgener, music director of Union High School, is holding summer band classes at Alterra school on Mondays. WARD MAKES QUILT Tuesday, Barta Jenkins, Ardith Allred, Vionne Parrish, Claire Jeppson and Ellen Bracken met at 10 o'clock to quilt on the monthly work day. A pot-luck lunch was enjoyed at noon. Later other ladies in the ward came to assist. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Emerson and family enjoyed a trip to Tab-iona Tab-iona last Sunday afternoon. The officers and teachers of MIA held their monthly Preparation Prepara-tion meeting at the chapel Monday Mon-day evening, June 6. SEE DAUGHTER MARRIED Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eldredge made a trip to Salt Lake City to see their daughter, Bette, before she was married. Mrs. Eldredge accompanied her daughter to Las Vegas, Nevada, to witness her marriage to Duane Wimmer. Sharan Rasmussen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olie Rasmussen, is employed in Salt Lake City this summer caring for children of a relative. Mrs. Charles Bingham cared for two of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Snyder and Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Brighton cared for two while their parents were in Salt Lake City to rent living quarters. Clifford Johnson, of Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif., visited at the homes of his brother,, Ercel and Alton, and family on Tuesday. . Mrs. John H. Cook has been visiting relatives and friends in Vernal for a short time'. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Parrish and sons visited in Rangely, Sunday, Sun-day, June 5, with the Rex Lyman Parrish and families. ATTEND CONVENTION Mrs. Eric A. Stolla left Friday to attend MIA convention in Salt Lake City. She then planned on going up to Pinedale, Wyoming to spend part of her vacation with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Molyneaux. Mrs. Seth Asay has been working work-ing in the kitchen at the Roose velt Hospital, while the cook was on a vacation. Mrs. Minnie Angus and her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Rowena Lambert, of Vernal, Ver-nal, met another sister, Mrs. Ottie Benson of Hyrum. They drove to Fillmore and got another sister, Mrs. Edna Day and drove to Cool-idge, Cool-idge, Ariz, and visited their aunt, Mrs. Rose M. Neff. On their return re-turn trip they spent some time in the Mesa Temple in Arizona, also the St. George Temple. They went through Cedar Breaks and Zion Canyon enroute. Mrs. Angus attended the marriage of her niece, Joyce Jordan, in Salt Lake City on Saturday. She was gotie one week and reports a wonderful trip. . Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle and small daughter, Rose Marie, made a trip to Salt Lake City to visit their son and brother, Dennis, who is in the Primary Hospital.' Mrs. Ethel Bowden, of Vernal, has been visiting with her daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Allred. Earl Taylor, who makes his home with Bishop Golden Collins, has been appointed stake M Men leader. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shisler and two daughters spent Sunday, June 5 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mont Poulson at Duchesne. GETS TRANSFER Word has been received from Lynn Bracken that he has been transferred from the Black Hills District in South Dakota, where he has been, to the Milk River District, where he is supervising Elder, and also of the Northern Montana District. Lynn is also branch president of the Erazer branch, which is composed of all Indians. 100 TEACHERS Mrs. Minnie Angus, Osa Hul-linger, Hul-linger, Lora Asay and Myrtle Winn are on the list of Relief Society teachers who attained 100 teaching. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Westwood and sons, of Rangely, Colorado, have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Westwood's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Cook, also at the Fred and Jack Cook homes. Mrs. Ardith Allred has been appointed ap-pointed as secretary of Relief Society in the place vacated by Mrs. Fannie Todd. Mrs. S. A. Brighton and Mrs. Don Killian accompanied Mrs. Lawrence Brighton to Salt Lake City on Saturday, where they visited vis-ited relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Todd returned re-turned to their home in Salt Lake City on Sunday, after spending two weeks in Roosevelt, where Keith was acting manager of the Sprouse-Reitz Store. Mrs. JaVar Horrocks and family, fam-ily, of Vernal, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cook are the proud parents of a baby girl, born at the Roosevelt Hospital on Saturday. A group of twelve of the Sunday Sun-day School class with their teacher, teach-er, Phillip Merkley, held a weiner and marshmallow roast at the open fireplace north of the chapel on Wednesday evening, June 8. The Sunday School officers were quite elated that they got $116.00 from the food baskets that circulated through the ward recently. Lonnie Winn was taken to Salt Lake City by Angus Anderson, Sunday afternoon to receive medical med-ical care. Mr. Winn has been in poor health for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Mont Poulson and son, Milton, also their daughter, Mrs. Arden Robbins, Kermit Poulson, Poul-son, all of Duchesne, and Mr. KoKo from Burma, were callers at the Tom Shisler home on Saturday. Sat-urday. Mr. KoKo is staying at the Poulson home for three weeks to study the ways of American farming. He was quite interested in watching Karl Shisler bale hay. Lloyd Rasmussen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Rasmussen, was in the Roosevelt Hospital for several days last week from infection.,- Mrs. Squire Mangus, accompanied accompan-ied by a brother, made a trip to Farmington, New Mexico and back last week. Primary monthly Preparation meeting was held Thursday night, June 9, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle, with Mrs. Kettle Ket-tle and Mrs. Tilentha. Rasmussen serving refreshments.
