Show A Contest Starts . . . UBIC Seeks Slogan Support Promised Enthusiasm was at a high pitch as various organizations from the Basin responded to a call by officers of the Uintah Basin Industrial Convention to attend a meeting on Jan. 10. Purpose of the meeting was to ask for assistance in the many phases of the annual UBIC from the civic and service organizations organiza-tions of the area. According to Elmer Yergen-sen, Yergen-sen, 1952 president, representatives representa-tives from Kiwanis, Lions, the Chamber of Commerce of Roosevelt Roose-velt and Vernal, Fort Duchesne Ladies' Club, Basin Post No. 61, American Legion, Garden Club,' Socialette, and the Young Farmers Farm-ers chapter of Roosevelt, were present at the meeting, and assured as-sured the committee their organization organ-ization would accept an assignment. assign-ment. In addition to the general routine rou-tine business of the group, it was decided to make a contest out of the 1952 slogan, and the 'winner will receive a $50.00 engraved en-graved Longeen wrist watch. All esidents of the Basin are invited to submit a slogan on or before Feb. 19. Date of the next meeting meet-ing is Feb. 21, when the slogan will be -adopted. In case duplicate dupli-cate slogans are submitted, the one postmarked first will be declared de-clared the winner. Previous slogans are (1950) "Know The Problems of the Basin Better." (1951) "The Colorado Colo-rado River, Utah's Last Water Hole." Mrs. Jack Leavitt has been selected to head the newly created cre-ated ladies department- of th UBIC, and Pres. Yergensen appointed ap-pointed Forrest Hancock, immediate im-mediate past president, Tal War-die, War-die, Rulon Anderton and Louis Jensen, as members of the advisory ad-visory board, whose duties are to counsel and advise the officers offi-cers and committees during the preparation of the 1952 convention. |
