Show Highway 40 Topic Of Kiwanis Meeting Wiley Baucum, director of the Highway 40 Association, J. D. Jones, Delbert Cassada and Vern Gifford, all of Vernal, met with the local Kiwanis club last night to discuss various problems concerning con-cerning the - promotion of the coast to coast highway that serves the Uintah Basin. They urged the club to support a financial drive in the community. Acting on the advice of Mr. Baucum the club will propose to Mayor Homer P. Edwards, Roosevelt's representative on the Highway 40 executive board, that a luncheon meeting be called call-ed for next Tuesday, asking all business people to attend and map a plan to raise funds to promote the various projects now underway. President Floyd Peterson reported re-ported the club had named Mrs. Louisa Campbell as the Roose-. velt mother to be their "Polio-Queen" "Polio-Queen" entry. He also announced announ-ced that the next week's meeting meet-ing would be devoted to hearing about the city manager form of government, with Vernal's city manager and council representative represen-tative as the: speakers. The plub will also entertain the Roosevelt city council as their guests. |
