Show 4-H Work Grows 107 2953 Annual Reports Of County Agents Show Activity in Area The Extension Service activities activi-ties in Duchesne County for 1953 are briefed in the annual statistical and narrative report of extension work compiled by Robert S. Murdock, agricultural agent, and Mary Lois Reichert, home demonstration agent. The statistical section of the report, extension teaching and other activities, lists 1106 farm or home visits; 1035 office calls were made by county residents; 1778 telephone calls were received re-ceived at the county office; 135 news articles or stories prepared; prepar-ed; 35 radio broadcasts made or prepared; 6577 bulletins distributed; dis-tributed; 37 adult result demonstrations demon-strations conducted. Seventeen training meetings were held for local leaders, ad-" ult work, with 163 attendance; 20 meetings conducted for 4-H Club leaders, with 312 atten- dance; all other meetings, agent held or participated in: Young men's and women's work 8 meetings, with 112 attendance; adult work, 116 meetings, with 2056 attendance; 4-H club work, 75 meetings, with 2482 attendance; atten-dance; 56 adult meetings conducted con-ducted by local leaders, with 775 attendance; 469 meetings conducted con-ducted by local 4-H Club leaders, lead-ers, with. 3048 attendance. There were 288 men and 164 women in Duchesne County who served as voluntary local leaders lead-ers or committeemen assisting the extension agents with organization, or-ganization, planning, and conducting con-ducting extension work in the county for 1953. A breakdown by groups shows 260 men and 78 women participated as leaders lead-ers in the adult agriculture work; 48 women as leaders in adult home demonstration work; 2 women as YMW work leaders; 28 men and 56 women as 4-H Club leaders. Nine fact-finding surveys fori program planning purposes were made during the year. In the 4-H phase of the extension exten-sion service work, 220 projects were completed Enrollment in 4-H Club work in the 41 clubs increased 107 per cent over 1952, with a total enrollment of 336 73 boys, 263 girls. The extension service work compiled in the annual report, began Nov 1, 1952, by Louis A. Jensen, county agent, and Mary Lois Reichert, home demonstration demonstra-tion agent. Mr. Jensen's work period ended June 15, 1953. when he resigned to accept a position on the USAC'staff at Logan. Robert S. Murdock accepted ac-cepted the position vacated by Mr. Jensen on that same date. The annual report ended Oct. 31, 1953. Various phases of extension (Continued on back page) |
