Show Punishment For Sin Is Discussed By LDS Speaker "Mormonism accepts the doctrine doc-trine of the fall, and the account of the transgression in Eden as set forth in Genesis. But it affirms af-firms that none save Adam shall ever have to account for Adam's disobedience," was the opening charge made by Woodrow Nelson Nel-son in the second of his series of discourses on Mormon doctrine at the Roosevelt Second ward, Sunday night. Using the Scriptures and the Articles of Faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as the basis for his talk, Mr. Nelson presented the following follow-ing LDS beliefs: "Mankind in general is absolutely absolved from the responsibility of the original sin, and each person shall answer for his own transgression; trans-gression; that the fall was foreknown fore-known of God; that it was the accepted means by which the necessary condition of mortality should be inaugurated; and that a Redeemer was provided before the world was." In conclusion Mr. Nelson said: "Our belief is that general salvation,' sal-vation,' in the sense of redemption redemp-tion from the effects of the fall, comes to all without their seeking seek-ing it, but that individual salvation salva-tion or rescue from effects of personal sins is to be acquired by each for himself, by faitii ami good works through the redemption redemp-tion wrought by Jesus Christ." |
