Show State Warns Of Unlicensed Buyers Off Farm Products It is recognized that the producer pro-ducer of farm products is subject sub-ject to unusual hazards and losses loss-es in his dealings with certain persons who seek to obtain and do obtain from the producer his products for resale upon a speculative specu-lative basis. And it is further recognized that it is in the public pub-lic interest that such hazards and losses shall be minimized as much as possible, in order that the consumer of these commodities com-modities may depend upon a constant and adequate supply to the best interests of all concerned. concern-ed. According to Commissioner R. Harvey Dastrup, State Department Depart-ment of Agriculture, thousands of dollars are lost annually to producers in bad checks, bad accounts, and other forms of transactions entered into by dealers who were not licensed under the Produce Dealers' Act of the State of Utah to purchase agricultural commoities within the State boundaries. In order to assist the producer in the marketing of his commodities, commodi-ties, we have furnished complete lists of all produce dealers, commission com-mission merchants, brokers and processors in the Stale of Utah to all County Agricultural Agents, Ag-ents, District Agricultural Inspectors, In-spectors, Farm Bureau Presidents, Presi-dents, and cooperative groups who are interested in advising their members with such information. infor-mation. We have also, at the request re-quest of the Utah Turkey Growers' Grow-ers' Federation, made these lists available to every turkey processing pro-cessing plant within the State, which list will be published and posted in a conspicuous place in the plant where thos3 interested interest-ed may avail themselves of the knowledge necessary to guide them in their agricultural marketings. mar-ketings. The Produce Dealers' Act can only be of service if we have the cooperation of the producer in making its provisions effective. We again strongly urge every producer of agricultural commodities commo-dities in this State to make available avail-able to themselves the information informa-tion contained in these lists in order that they may be more nearly protected in the regular transaction of the marketing of their .commodities. |
