Show Ballard Students To View Business Life Of Roosevelt Students of the Ballard school ' from the fourth through the I sixth grades will make an industrial indus-trial tour of Roosevelt Friday as an important chapter in their social science studies. Under the direction of Principal Prin-cipal Spencer Squire the group ' of elementary graders will observe ob-serve operations at the Roosevelt Flour Mill, the Hi-Land Dairy, Larsen Bottling Works. Roosevelt Roos-evelt Bakery, Pink and Tony's Cold Storage plant and the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Standard. They will lunch in the city park and complete their tour at 3 p. m. Several Ballard par- ents will accompany the young-1 stcrs. Mr. Squire explained that Friday's Fri-day's educational trip into Roosevelt Roos-evelt will be the first, in a series of such ventures designed to give the Ballard students an actual ac-tual picture of how the Uintah Basin exists industrially, economically eco-nomically and socially. Commenting on the educational education-al aspect of the on-the-ground studies inaugurated this year at Ballard, Mr. Squire said. "Our objective is to teach the students the American way of life through direct contact with factors which have built it and keep it in existence. ex-istence. We are most anxious to have our students learn how men live with each other, and the best way to do this is by giving them a chance to observe first hand America in operation." |
