"Suspend all contracts, means suspension of delivery. T THE Duchesne County ACA Committee, in session Thursday afternoon tp, consider the implications impli-cations involved In the suspension suspen-sion order, issued a statement j that the sudden halting of agricultural agri-cultural conservation work could not have come at a worse time. With 790 Duchesne farmers contracted con-tracted under the ACA program for 1947, the county committee pessimistically expressed the belief be-lief that the great majority of the farmers now signed-up would lose their incentive to proceed with sound land conservation practices. "This program is designed for the farmers, designed to help them improve their land and the crops they raise. Therefore, it behooves be-hooves every farmer who has looked to the ACA program, to, continue to do the things necessary neces-sary to insure the benefits he has derived from what we believe to be a sound agricultural pol icy. "Last year Duchesne county farmers received $114,000 in benefit payments for saving their land and making it more productive. pro-ductive. We believe that this has been worth while, consequently we accept with reluctance the order suspending the ACA program. pro-gram. We only hope that it will not further imperil the critical soil condition that now faces the United States." |
